Bushveld Bliss

04 October 2024 - Mabula; Day 1

We spent an enjoyable and relaxing weekend with our good friends Richard and Shirley at their private lodge in Mabula. We arrived late Friday afternoon after a reasonably short drive from Midrand.

We chilled with some wine after unpacking and in the late afternoon had a short game drive. It wasnt long before we came across some of Mabula's magnificent Rhino just as the sun dropped below the horizon.

White Rhinocerus (Chiromantis xerampelina)

A short stop for sundowners, with Rufous-cheeked Nightjar's calling around while we soaked up the stillness and bright starlit sky

Tranquility

Heading back to the lodge, we came across the two male Cheetah that had recently fled judging by their low hanging bellies

Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus)
