All good things come to an end

29 August 2024 - Ngwenya Lodge; Day 6

I spent the day working at the Lodge working while my wife and father-in-law enjoyed a whole day in the Park.

I had Mourning Dove on our balcony while having an early coffee

a short walk in the morning gave a juvenile Little Spa against overcast skies

Little Sparrowhawk (Accipiter minullus)

And Natal Spurfowl amongst the other Lodges

Natal Spurfowl (Pternistis natalensis)

Late afternoon, I strolled down to the hide and had a probable Yellow-billed Egret amongst the Whistling Ducks

Yellow-billed Egret (Ardea brachyrhyncha)

And managed to 'sphish' out a Red-faced Cisticola in the reeds below the hide

There were also quite a few female Village Weaver's in the same reeds

Village Weaver (Ploceus cucullatus)

At one of the small dams near Reception, a Giant Kingfisher in the tangle of a big tree

Giant Kingfisher (Megaceryle maxima)

I observed the courtship between this pair of Mourning Doves and for sure there is foreplay in birds, well at least with these Dove there was. These taken in very low light conditions.....

Back at our Lodge, I watched some interesting interaction from above between two duelling White-browed Robin-Chats that were pretty vocal and animated

No magical sunset tonight with the overcast conditions, but still a fire and sundowners to close out another enjoyable week at Ngwenya Lodge
