27 December 2023 - Hermanus to Cape Agulhas; Day 6
Whilst waiting for the family to get ready, I photographed this Common Starling on the neighbours roof.

We then headed out on our day trip passing through Stanford and then taking a sand road to the small but quaint village of Elim and continued to Struisbaai. Whilst on these sand roads, I was keeping my eyes peeled for the Agulhas Long-billed Lark that is often seen perched on fence poles on the side of the road - no luck at all, probably because these roads were also quite busy. From Struisbaai we continued to Cape Agulhas which you know is busy when you have to queue to take your family pic at the most southern tip of Africa. The wind was still blowing, but the turquoise sea and blue skies really made it picturesque. Whilst here, we checked out the Lighthouse and then the famed shipwreck.
We continued on to Arniston where we had a lunch planned at the famed Arniston Hotel. We wanted to sit outside to enjoy the view, but the wind made it unpleasant, so we opted for a table inside - seafood, cold wine and a view to die for - what more could you want?
We drove back to Hermanus via Bredarsdorp, again checking all the fence poles without avail. Once home, the family had a siesta while I enjoyed a short walk to town along the boardwalk accompanied by a few Hartlaub's Gulls

There were a few White-necked Raven's with their massive bills at the Old Harbour, but tough to photograph in the wind and dull light

A chilled evening at home playing cards after a great day exploring around the southern tip of Africa, along with many, many others!
