12 July 2023 - Glen Austin Pan
I had a quick visit to the Pan to check if there were any new species amongst the usual suspects. The wind was pumping quite hard, so the Brown-throated Martin's that are normally airborne were all seeking shelter in the reeds

Most of the waterfowl were quite far out, but the Cape Shoveler's played ball and gave some great photographic opportunities of both female and male
Female Cape Shoveler (Spatula smithii) |
Male Cape Shoveler (Spatula smithii) |
There were a few opportunities for in-flight images

But, this was by far my best image of this species

I managed to find the resident Malachite, also taking shelter in the reeds

The wind strengthened and put paid to any other photo opportunities.
