14 June 2023 - Buffelsdrift
I spent a morning in Buffelsdrift with an old friend Rob Geddes who I hadn't seen since I moved to Kuwait in 2006. It was really great to catch-up and reminisce about birds and birding in general.
We had hoped to try and find a Yellow-bellied Eremomela in the general area, so after a coffee we had a walk around one of his nurseries, but still chatting more than birding.
No luck with the Eremomela, but it was a long shot. We had a few other good bushveld birds including Long-billed Crombec

One of the other Eremomela's - Burnt-necked

A brief view of Brown-crowned Tchagra

The Wild Dagga were in flower and these are magnets for Sunbird's and in a dense grove we enjoyed White-bellied

and a cool male Marico Sunbird

Back to the house for another coffee before I had to head back home - but we will certainly get out birding together again and to try and find that Yellow-bellied Eremomela, perhaps at Mkhombo Dam
