31 May 2023 - Kyalami Estates
May was a relatively quiet month and I didnt do much birding in the Estate only recording 44 species. There weren't many highlights other than Malachite Kingfisher, Grey Hornbill and noting that the White-throated Swallow hadn't yet departed.
Brown-hooded Kingfishers are sometimes heard calling in parts of the Estate and this month, I managed to track one down on an overcast day.

The Reed Cormorants were enjoying the St Ledger Dam

I did find a Common Leopard which was nice to see

Whilst at the house, I tried to photograph this tiny but mobile Jumping Spider. My macro lens would have been more suited to the job - next time!
