I had a short visit to the Pan on an overcast day to see if I locate the Lesser Moorhen that had been previously reported following the good rains.
No sight nor sound of the Moorhen, but I did enjoy this slow 'tightrope' walking African Swamphen on the reserve fence

I was fortunate to find a few obliging White-backed Ducks tucked into the reeds near the fence. They are pretty cryptic and can quite easily be missed, but are one of my favourite duck species

No so cool, was finding a single female Mallard on the Pan - a camera was not my first choice for 'shooting' her.....
