The smell of sea air

24 December 2022 - Plettenberg Bay; Day 2

Our first day at the coast was chilled, but we had overcast weather for most of the day. My son and I had a short walk down to the St Peter's Anglican Church which we can see from our apartment. It was built between 1878 and 1881 and the grandness of its setting and location seems to enhance the harmony of this magnificent stone church.

We heard a woodpecker tapping away and eventually found a male Cardinal high up on the Eucalyptus Tree in the Church grounds.

In the same tree, a few Sunbirds were actively catching small insects and I managed to get this male Greater Double-collared in transition plumage

Later in the afternoon, we watched a school of Bottle-nosed Dolphins hunting in the surf zone off Lookout Beach. This taken from our apartment window which is quite some distance away.
