30 October 2021 - Kyalami Estates
Spring is now upon us, the warmer weather is appreciated and winter clothes have been packed away.
Birding picked up and you know summer is coming when the intra-African migrants arrive like Greater-striped Swallow and Diederick Cuckoo and migrants from Europe like Willow Warbler.
It wasn't a bad month, with 62 species recorded and as before a few highlights like African Fish Eagle, African Green Pigeon, Malachite Kingfisher, Bar-throated Apalis, Ovambo Sparrowhawk, Black-backed Puffback and Yellow-fronted Tinkerbird.
As always, I had my camera out a few times and from my garden photographed Cape Glossy Starling checking out some nesting material

On one of my walks with the dogs, I saw the Wattled Lapwing along the stream between two of the dams. Their yellow wattles and legs complimented the yellow flowers along the stream. So, I returned with my camera and managed to get the images I envisioned in my mind
