29 April 2021 - Leadwood Big Game Estate; Day 1
My wife and I left Kyalami early in the morning for the 5-hour drive to Hoedspruit and Leadwood Big Game Estate where we would spend a few relaxing days in the bush with our great friends Simon and Jenny. Once you get to Dullstroom, it is really a scenic drive through the mountains, despite some of the gargantuan potholes on this quite busy road that seems to be less and less maintained.
Once we arrived and had unpacked, we relaxed on the patio over lunch and wine for a good ol catch-up and let the surrounding bush do the rest - soul food!
Late in the afternoon, Simon and I went for a short drive stopping for some Crested Francolin crossing the road.

At one of the dams, a Three-banded Plover was foraging along the shore line.

As the sun was setting, we picked up a few Pale Flycatcher, which is a good bird for the Estate

By then, it was time to head back to the house for a continuation of the catch-up over dinner, wine and a fire.
